Do not assume fries are gluten-free
Potatoes alone do not establish the status of a prepared portion. Check the current US fry ingredients and ask about cooking oil and fryer use. We have not verified a dedicated gluten-free fryer arrangement at every Wendy’s location.
What to check before ordering
- Open the official French Fries product information for ingredients and allergens.
- Ask whether breaded foods use the same fryer or oil at the restaurant.
- Ask about baskets, scoops, holding areas and other shared equipment.
- Check cheese, chili, bacon and sauces separately if ordering loaded fries.
Wendy’s allergen policy describes possible cross-contact during preparation and does not guarantee that menu items are allergen-free.
Are breakfast potatoes the same?
No assumption should carry from one product to another. Seasoned Potatoes are a separate menu item, so ask for their own ingredients and cooking details.
What if staff cannot confirm?
For a medically necessary gluten restriction, do not use a general online “yes” as a substitute for verified ingredients and preparation. Ask about an alternative whose handling can be explained, or choose another meal. See our broader guide for the questions to ask about potatoes, salads and other choices.
